CAUMSETT PRESERVATION COLLECTION- COMPOTE VASE
HAND-PINCHED ENGLISH PORCELAIN COMPOTE VASE WITH PAINTED BOTANICALS. DESIGNED FOR LOW LUSH ARRANGEMENTS. WHEN NOT CONTAINING FLOWERS IT CAN BE A CATCH-ALL FOR FRUITS OR SCULPTURAL OBJECTS.
THIS COMPOTE VASE WAS SCULPTED WITH A COIL AND PINCH TECHNIQUE. ONCE FORMED IT WAS SLOWLY DRIED TO PREVENT WARPING, THEN SPONGED TO REFINE THE FORM. WHEN DRY A PIECE SPENDS 24 HOURS IN THE KILN IN A BISQUE FIRE AT 1800 DEGREES F. AFTER COOLING AND REMOVAL FROM THE BISQUE FIRE, THE PIECES ARE GENTLY HAND SANDED AND SPONGE BATHED. THE ART IS APPROACHED IN A PAINTERLY MANNER. CAREFUL MARK-MAKING BALANCES THE PLAYFUL INTENTION BEHIND EACH WORK OF ART. THE BASE IS HAND SIGNED, THE PIECE IS GLAZED AND THEN FIRED IN A GLAZE FIRE FOR ANOTHER 24 HOURS AT 2300 DEGREES F. THE PERIOD OF TIME FROM START TO FINISH IS ABOUT 1 MONTH IN THE MAKING.
APPROXIMATELY 6” TALL x 6” DEEP x 12.5” WIDE
HAND-WASHING IS RECOMMENDED FOR YOUR FUTURE HEIRLOOM.
ONE OF KIND, MADE AND PAINTED BY STEPHANIE PERRY IN HER STUDIO.
